Housing as an Urban Project

The need for adequate and affordable housing was depicted by UN-Habitat as a key element in achieving inclusive, safe, sustainable and resilient cities. Housing cannot be separated from its urban context, in fact, it has to be understood as part of the urban complexity. In this regard, the provision, design, governance, and management of housing involve not only their dimension as an object that can satisfy the basic need of shelter, but also its condition as a political and social tool that can distribute wealth, and thus, improve the quality of life.
