Thomaz Ramalho is currently a Chief Technical Advisor in UN-Habitat, based in Addis Ababa. He was also a Human Settlements Officer in UN-Habitat’s Regional Office for Africa, supervising the agency’s programme in African Lusophone countries and coordinating programmes and projects related to national urban and housing policies, urban planning and slum upgrading in Angola, Cabo Verde, Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau and Sao Tome & Principe. He is an Architect and Urban Planner (USP, Brazil) and holds a Master in Urban Planning and International Development (IUAV, Italy). He was also a Professor of Spatial Planning and Strategic Planning in the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR, Brazil) and a visiting Professor in the Methodist University of Angola (UMA, Angola).
