Published on: 24.11.2020

Rethink the City is on it's fifth run!

Rethink the City: New approaches to Global and Local Urban Challenges is a free, online MOOC teaching recent  urban challenges focusing on developing countries, referred to as the Global South.

Enrollment is still open! If you're interested in topics surrounding urbanisation of the Global South, you can join here: https://www.edx.org/course/rethink-the-city-new-approaches-to-global-and-lo-2

The course revolves around four different themes, going beyond traditional urban strategies and policies, and their application to cases studies from around the world, including Ghana, Brazil, Chile, China and more:

Spatial justice
Spatial justice is undoubtedly one of the greatest challenges of urban contexts in emerging economies.

Housing
Increasing demand in the global south calls for alternative approaches in housing provision and management.

Resilience
Understanding resilience not as a mere struggle for survival, but as an opportunity to build better urban environments.

Design
Planning and design tools should be able to incorporate cultural, physical, and socio-political variables to provide integral approaches.
